It was with great sadness that we were informed of the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II today, Thursday 8 September.
Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi QPM said: “This is a day of incredible sadness and I join the rest of the nation in mourning the loss of our monarch.
“I know from personal experience, and from speaking to those who conducted Royal Train duties, of Her Majesty’s warmth and kindness. Not to mention the immense pride our officers had in this aspect of their roles – policing the countless Royal visits which would see train stations and the surrounding streets packed with thousands of excited people eager to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty.
“It was truly an honour to serve Her Majesty as she carried out her duties. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family during this time.”
