The last few weeks have been exciting in British Transport Police as we’ve appointed to two roles within our Chief Officer Group.
Ian Drummond-Smith, who has moved over from a fabulous 26-year career at Devon and Cornwall Police, is our new ACC for Network Policing. Ian has a wealth of experience and his passion and determination to protect the public by providing outstanding world-class policing is infectious. He’s currently also leaning on his experience in his work for the National Police Chiefs’ Council coordinating the police response to the prison early release strategy and the national investigations into the recent riots. I’m looking forward to working with him as we continue to reduce disruption, protect the most vulnerable, and create a hostile environment for crime on the railway.
Steff Sharp has been appointed as our Director of Corporate Development. Steff is the epitome of a BTP success story, she joined us in our Central London Police Station as a PNC Operator 14 years ago, and every role she has done since then has given her a different insight into how special BTP is. Having more recently taken on the Director of Corporate Development temporarily, Steff has shown how she can rise to the challenge. Not only is she an established and valued member of our Chief Officer Group, but she also has the gravitas and reputation within BTP to be able to make an excellent impact. I’m excited for how she will continue to move us forwards.
I’m looking forward to working with Ian and Steff to carry on our vision of becoming a world-leading police force, trusted to provide a safe and reliable railway.
