Steff Sharp has been appointed as British Transport Police's Chief Operating Officer, taking responsibility for a broad portfolio including Finance, People & Development, Commercial, Fleet, Uniform, Estates & Facilities, Safety & Wellbeing and Legitimacy.
Steff's appointment follows a distinguished 16-year career with BTP. She joined the Force as a PNC Operator in Central London Police Station and has progressed through a series of increasingly senior roles, developing a deep understanding of both frontline policing and the organisational functions that enable operational success.
Steff brings a proven track record of leadership, innovation and public service to the role, and is highly regarded for her delivery of complex transformation in challenging circumstances. She will continue to serve as the National Police Chiefs' Council Gold for Operation COSUITOR, coordinating the policing response to serious and organised crime involving drone-enabled criminality affecting prisons.
As Chief Operating Officer, Steff will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of BTP, building on a strong track record of transformation and ensuring the Force remains well-equipped, operationally resilient and ready to seize the opportunities ahead.
Chief Constable Lucy D'Orsi said: "Steff is an outstanding leader who combines strategic insight with a deep understanding of the challenges facing modern policing.
"She has consistently demonstrated the courage and determination needed to tackle some of our most complex issues, while never losing sight of our people and values.
"Having started her career in BTP and progressed to Chief Officer level, she embodies what is possible through talent, dedication and hard work. I am delighted to welcome her to the role of Chief Operating Officer."
