UPDATE: Man dies following Ilford assault
A 61 year old man has sadly died following an incident at Ilford railway station on Wednesday, 4 December.
Officers were called to Ilford railway station at around 8.49pm on 4 December following reports of a serious assault.
Paramedics and London's Air Ambulance also attended, and a man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
A man was arrested and subsequently charged with Section 18 GBH, Affray and possession of a prohibited offensive weapon in a private place following the attack.
Following the victim’s death, detectives will make an application to amend the indictment to reflect the change in the victim’s condition.
Ayodele Jamgbadi, of Kingston Road, Ilford, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on Friday, 6 December and was remanded in custody and will next appear at Inner London Crown Court on 07/01/25.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Attwell said: “We have specialist family liaison officers supporting the victim’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time.
“I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and a 28 year old man has now been charged and remanded in connection. We are not seeking anyone else.”
