Former officer would have been dismissed – London

A former officer would have been dismissed following an accelerated misconduct hearing.

Former PC Ronald Davis, previously based in London, was subject to an Accelerated Misconduct Hearing held on 25 August 2026 where he answered allegations he breached the standards of professional behaviour.

The hearing was held remotely, via Microsoft Teams and was chaired by the Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi.

Former PC Davis answered allegations that:

• On 31 May 2026, whilst on duty and driving a marked police vehicle, he:
• Used the vehicle for a non-policing purpose, driving to Northolt.
• Caused or permitted members of his family to be passengers in the vehicle during this journey, without good reason or policing purpose.
• Exceeded the safe and permitted number of passengers for the vehicle.
• Failed to use legally required child car seats, without a valid exemption.
• And by doing the above, failed without reasonable excuse or lawful authority, to be available for operational deployment.
• On 10 June 2026, he reported for duty whilst the level of alcohol in his breath exceeded the permitted level.
• On 31 May 2026 and/or 10 June 2026, he provided misleading accounts to his supervisor regarding the incident described on 31 May.

The Chief Constable found the allegations proven, and that the breaches amounted to gross misconduct.

She found that former PC Ronald Davis would have been dismissed, had he not already retired from BTP. The full report can be read here.

Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi said: “The conduct of PC Davis in every respect undermines discipline and good order within the police. Behaviour like this is simply incompatible with the values of BTP and policing in general, and his dismissal is the only outcome which can properly maintain our high standards and protect the public’s confidence in what we do.”
