This campaign shifts that focus.
“Think you’re being discreet? Think again” is aimed at offenders. It makes clear that if you commit sexual offences on the rail network, we will be coming after you.
This is not behaviour that goes unnoticed. And it is not behaviour we ignore.
Message to offenders
You may think no one noticed.
You may think it was subtle.
You may think you blended into the crowd.
You didn’t.
We have plain clothes officers operating across trains and stations, working alongside specialist teams trained to identify suspicious behaviour, track offenders, and build evidence.
We follow patterns in offending. We connect reports, act on intelligence, and build a clear picture of offenders’ activity.
Extensive CCTV across the network supports this work, helping us identify suspects and strengthen cases.
Our work leads to real outcomes. Offenders are identified, arrested and brought to justice, with some convictions publicised.
For example, a recent British Transport Police investigation led to the first conviction under new sex-based harassment legislation. This case highlights how seriously we treat these offences and the action we take against those responsible.
