Single shot device with a single laser sighting system.
The five-second cycle is triggered by momentary pressure on the trigger, however, if pressure is maintained on the trigger the device will discharge until the trigger is released.
This model is no longer in production and its use will eventually be phased out.
Range of 25 feet or 7.6 metres.
Two-shot capability and a dual laser sighting system.
The 5-second cycle is automatically terminated, regardless of whether continuous pressure is maintained on the trigger. Additional action is required from the officer to extend the cycle beyond the default 5-seconds.
Cross connect – allows for connectivity between deployed probes from different cartridges within the same device.
Enhanced data collection - will provide more detailed information to develop training and tactics and increase police accountability.
As per the Taser X2 plus:
Adaptive cross-connect – the deployed barbs will seek out the best connection and adapt accordingly. This assists in the desired use of the device.
New dart design – Gives a better flight when discharged, meaning better accuracy and a better connection.
Smaller device than the X2 which assists the ease of carriage
Cartridges come in two different angles. This enables the officers to make a choice between a ‘Close-up’ and a ‘Standoff’ cartridge.
Is it true that police are always seeking new types of CED?
As technology is always advancing, the police service is legally bound to explore alternatives to lethal force and continuously reviews new technology to see whether there are any developments that could be applied in UK policing.
As with all electronic devices, technology moves on and new models may offer some advances in safety, use and accountability. All equipment has a finite life expectancy and will require eventual replacement.
Any new device is subject to extremely rigorous testing and analysis and Government agreement prior to dissemination to the purchasing services.
