Former PC Docherty attended a Misconduct Hearing which took place from 20-22nd April 2026 at the PSD Offices, Ivason House, London, where he answered allegations that his conduct amounted to breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour, in respect of:
It was alleged Former PC Docherty made a dishonest allegation of criminal conduct against Mr A.
There was a further allegation that Former PC Docherty engaged in a course of unwanted conduct against Mr A which had the effect of violating the dignity of or creating an intimidating, degrading, or humiliating environment for Mr A and demonstrated a failure to act with self-control and respect towards him, by:
(i) Subjecting him to unwanted conduct and/or;
(ii) Making him feel uncomfortable, and/or
(iii) Making him feel scared.
It was alleged that these matters individually and/or cumulatively amounted to gross misconduct, namely a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour that, if proved, were so serious as to justify dismissal.
The identity of victims/witnesses was protected during the hearing as appropriate.
The panel found all allegations proven and that former PC Docherty’s actions amounted to gross misconduct. The panel ruled that had he not already resigned, former PC Docherty would have been dismissed from the force with immediate effect.
