Return of property following train collision – Bedford
Following the train collision in Bedford on Friday (19 June), British Transport Police (BTP) officers have carried out extensive searches of the affected trains and recovered a significant amount of passenger property.
This has now been safely transported to a secure East Midlands Railway storage facility, ready for returning to passengers. We will continue to conduct more searches as carriages are removed from the site throughout the week, so we can ensure that no items remain.
We’re now working to safely return property to passengers, as well as making sure that we have spoken to everyone who was on the trains as part of our investigation.
Anyone looking for their property should text BTP on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, using the reference 668 of 20 June, providing:
Our Force Contact Centre staff will take your details and pass them to EMR, who will then make contact with you directly to arrange the return of your property.
After contacting BTP, officers will cross reference your details against those we have already spoken to as part of our investigation and make contact with you. While we’ve already identified and contacted many of those involved, we recognise that some people may not have been able to speak to us. It is crucial that we speak to all passengers, and anyone who has yet to speak to police is asked to get in touch with us directly to tell us what happened using the QR code below.
