Man arrested after serious assault at Tube station – London

British Transport Police (BTP) officers have arrested a man on suspicion of Attempted Murder following a serious assault at Liverpool Street Underground station.

The man, aged 38, was detained on the evening of Monday 31 August in East London.

He was taken into police custody where he remains.

At 10.51pm on Sunday 30 August, officers responded to reports of a serious assault at Liverpool Street Underground station.

Paramedics also attended, and a man aged in his 30s was found on the Central Line platform with life-threatening head injuries.

He received emergency treatment at the station before being taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

BTP Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn said: “This is a key step in our investigation, which continues to progress at pace. Based on our enquiries to date, we are not seeking to identify anyone else in connection with this incident.

“Our thoughts remain the victim and his family at this difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers.

“We are still keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police. If you were on the Central Line platforms between 10.30pm and 11pm and have information, please come forward.”
