Appeal to identify two men after unprovoked assault - Staffordshire

British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released images of two men they’d like to speak to after a man was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack in Staffordshire.

The incident happened at around 10pm on Sunday 30 August at Stafford railway station.

The victim, aged in his 60s, had been on a day out with his family and went to use the toilets.

Inside the toilets two men made comments towards him before one of the men approached him and struck his head. The other man then joined in, and the victim was repeatedly punched.

The victim was able to leave the toilet but on doing so, he was punched again several times and fell to the floor, striking his head and losing consciousness.

The suspects left the victim on the ground before making off from the station in the direction of the town centre.

Paramedics were called and the man was found to have suffered a large laceration to his head. He had also suffered serious bruising and swelling to his face.

Officers believe the men in the images could have information that may assist their enquiries.
