Appeal for witnesses after officers assaulted – Stirling

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after officers were assaulted at Stirling station in September.

At around 7pm on Sunday 6 September, a group of football fans were travelling to Edinburgh from a game in Perth earlier in the day.

Once at Stirling railway station, British Transport Police officers moved to arrest a man that had been abusive to officers on the train from Perth.

As officers arrested the man, a large group of football fans surrounded the officers and assaulted them.

They then fled the scene, boarding a train to Edinburgh Park railway station.

Detectives believe that there were many people on the station platform that may have seen the incident, and are urging them to come forward to support the investigation.
