PC Bonnar appeared before the Edinburgh Sherrif Court on June 2nd 2025 and was convicted of a criminal offence namely Threatening and Abusive Behaviour contrary to S38(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.
This was a breach of the standards of professional behaviour in relation to Discreditable Conduct: Police officers behave in a manner which does not discredit the police service or undermine public confidence in it, whether on or off duty.
The allegations have been assessed as gross misconduct which could lead to the officer’s dismissal if proved.
The identity of victims/witnesses will be protected during the hearing as appropriate.
