A drug dealer has been jailed after being caught with thousands of pounds worth of cocaine by British Transport Police (BTP) officers in plain clothes.
Ornel Sylaj, 23, and of no fixed abode, was jailed for two years and eight months at Cambridge Crown Court today (15 June).
He pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Supply Cocaine at an earlier court hearing.
The court heard how, on the afternoon of 24 March this year, plain clothes officers from BTP’s County Lines Taskforce engaged with Sylaj at Peterborough station and discovered he was wanted on recall to prison.
He had breached the conditions of his licence after his release from prison in March 2025 having served a jail sentence for another drug offence.
Officers then searched Sylaj and found 150 snap bags of cocaine inside his coat pocket.
In total over 80 grams of cocaine was found on his person with an estimated street value of £7,500.
BTP Sergeant Julian Mason said: “Our County Lines Taskforce are highly skilled at observing behaviour and can easily spot the tell-tale signs of anyone attempting to avoid police officers or go unnoticed.
“Sylaj’s arrest and subsequent jail sentence means that more harmful drugs have been taken off the streets, and another County Lines drug dealer is behind bars where he belongs.
“If you’re planning to use the railway to transport and supply drugs, think again – we will stop you in your tracks.
