PC James Hill, based in Newcastle, was the subject of an Accelerated Misconduct Hearing held on 17 September 2026.
The hearing was held remotely via Microsoft Teams and was chaired by Chief Constable Lucy D'Orsi.
PC James Hill faced allegations that his conduct amounted to breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of:
It was alleged that, on or around 7 July 2024 and thereafter, having obtained the personal contact details of Female A during his police duties, PC Hill used those details to initiate and pursue inappropriate personal communications with her for the purpose of developing an improper emotional relationship. In doing so, it was alleged that PC Hill abused his position as a police officer.
It was alleged that these matters, individually and/or cumulatively, amounted to gross misconduct, namely breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour that, if proved, were so serious as to justify dismissal.
The identity of victims and witnesses was protected during the hearing as appropriate.
Outcome
The Chair found the allegations proved and determined that the breaches amounted to gross misconduct. PC Hill was dismissed without notice.
Note
At the direction of the Chair, the earlier public notice of the hearing referred to PC Hill as "A Police Officer". At the beginning of the proceedings, the Chair removed the anonymity order relating to PC Hill.
