MEDIA CORRECTION
A media correction is requested for British Transport Police statement issued on 22/10/24 at 1:24AM/5:51AM in relation to the train collision in Llanbrynmair. The statement specified that ‘the deceased’s next of kin have been informed and his family are being supported by specialist officers.’ A specialist officer from British Transport Police visited the family of the deceased on 23/10/24.
We ask media not to speculate on the cause of death ahead of the coroner's report.
Superintendent Andrew Morgan said: ‘We would like to apologise for a miscommunication issued shortly after the train collision which took place on Monday 21st October in Llanbrynmair. British Transport Police has apologised directly to the family of the deceased in relation to this statement and would like to apologise publicly for any additional suffering caused at this extremely difficult time.’
