A man has been sentenced to an 18-month Community Payback Order after he exposed himself to a woman on a train, following a British Transport Police investigation.
Derek Sweeney, 41, of Radnor Street, Clydebank, was convicted of public indecency at Dumbarton Sherriff Court on Friday 22 October.
He was given an 18-month Community Payback Order with 140 hours unpaid work to be completed within 12 months.
On the 23 March this year, Sweeney was travelling on a train between Hyndland and Dalmuir when he exposed himself to a 22-year-old woman.
The incident was reported to British Transport Police and he arrested by officers.
BTP Detective Constable Steph Crawford said: “Sexual offences will absolutely not be tolerated on the rail network. Everyone has the right to travel and feel safe.
“We will always take reports of sexual offences seriously, and in this case were able to quickly arrest the suspect at the scene and bring him before the courts.
“If you are ever a victim of a sexual offence or sexual harassment on the railway network, you can text us discreetly on 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40. In an emergency always call 999.”
