The festive season is upon us and Christmas markets, festivities and celebrations have landed in the Midlands.
The arrival of the Christmas brings many more visitors and shoppers across the train and tram network in the Midlands. BTP officers will be out and about at stations across to keep you safe.
You might spot dog handlers and other specialist officers out and about during the next couple of weeks, to help protect the public and passengers.
Supt Sue Peters Midlands Divisional Commander said: "The Christmas season brings its own excitement and challenges - with hundreds more visitors to the cities across the region wanting to enjoy the festivities.
"We have officers located across the area ensuring your safety when travelling to and from the events not only there to offer reassurance but also if you need us. You are our eyes and ears when out and about across the rail network, we need your assistance to help us make a safer travel environment.
"We also need you to do your bit not only looking out for suspicious behaviour but looking after your own belongings, not leaving bags unattended or out of sight. Remember to keep an eye on friends and family near the tracks and plan for your journey home at the end of the night.
“Our officers will continue patrolling the rail network and they will be encouraging passengers to download the Railway Guardian app for additional safety advice and easy way to report crimes. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, always call 999.
"Most of all we want you to have a lovely time at the festive events in the city and across the midlands, enjoy yourselves, look out for one another and stay safe."
