Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward after a serious incident at Hackney Central Overground station.
Armed officers were called to the east London station following reports of a firearms incident at 1.29pm on 1 March.
A 20-year-old man was located with multiple laceration wounds and a single gunshot wound on his leg. He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
A knife was recovered from the scene as well as a bullet and a bullet casing.
No arrests have been made in connection at this time.
Detective Inspector Paul Attwell said: “While I appreciate this incident may come as a shock to the local community, it is important to state that this was an isolated incident.
“We have been conducting extensive enquiries at the station and in the local area and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it – they may have information that could be crucial to our investigation.
“The public will notice an increased presence of officers at the station and in the surrounding area to provide reassurance following the incident.”
