At just after 11.30am on Monday 29 March, a member of customer service staff and members of revenue staff were at the ticket barriers at Hull railway station checking passengers’ tickets
During this time, a man approached a member of revenue staff and asked to purchase a ticket from Brough railway station. It is explained to him that he may not purchase a ticket but would be instead issued a penalty fare notice.
The man then became angry and started threatening staff before charging through the exit barrier where the member of customer service staff was stood.
As he charged through, he grabbed the staff member and forced her to one side before falling over, getting back to his feet, and running out of the station.
