Do you recognise these men?
Detectives investigating the theft of metal cable from the railway have released two CCTV images in connection.
At around 2.45pm on Tuesday 17 October, two men gained access to the railway tracks in the Castleford area of Ferry Fryston and removed around 20 meters of metal cable.
As a result of this theft and trespass, there was a loss of rail network power between Castleford and Milford Junction in West Yorkshire and complete signal failure.
Detectives believe the two men in the images released may have information which could help their investigation.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Lucy Broadbent, said:
“Cable theft is against the law and can have a major impact on the wider rail network and is also extremely dangerous. Not only does it involve illegal trespassing on the rail network, but trains travel at high speed and often quietly, which mean you will have little time to react and move to safety. It is also important to note that some parts of the rail network are electrified which adds even further danger. Trespassing on the rail network can result if life changing injuries or even death.”
