Officers investigating a report of assault are today releasing this image in connection.
At around 7.20pm on Thursday 8 August, a man was kicked in the back, causing him to fall, shortly after he boarded a train at Burnham-on-Crouch station.
The attacker left the carriage before returning and throwing punches and spitting at the man before being made to leave the service by the train manager at Althorne station
Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could help their investigation.
Anyone who recognises him, or has any other information, is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 2400086842 of 8 August.
Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
