Detectives are appealing for a specific witness to come forward following the sad death of a woman after an incident in November last year.
Officers were called to Birmingham New Street railway station just after 11am on Tuesday 19 November 2024 following reports of a woman being assaulted on the concourse.
The injured woman, who was in her 80's, sustained a fractured thigh bone and potential injuries to several ribs in the incident, and sadly died on Friday 27 December.
Her death is believed to be linked to the incident.
Officers are keen to speak to the man who witnessed the incident, he is described as a tall white man in his early 30's, with a short goatee style beard. He wore a brown knitted beanie hat, black framed glasses, a black double breasted wool peacoat, beige chino trousers, dark grey gloves, light grey scarf, black shoes and black rucksack.
Officers believe the man in the description has valuable information that could help the investigation.
A woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of GBH and has since been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
DI Ian Wright from Birmingham CID said "We urge the witness to this incident to come forward, we believe he has vital information that will assist this investigation.
"The man, or anyone else who may have witnessed what happened, is urged to contact us by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 243 of 19 November 2024"
Alternatively reports can be made by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
