Appeal for witnesses after station assault - Birmingham

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a 74-year-old man was assaulted at Erdington Railway Station.
Just before 5am on Monday, November 7, the victim was walking along Station Road when he was followed by two young men. He turned into the Railway Station and was walking towards platform 2 when he was assaulted by one of the two before the second joined in. They left shortly after.
The victim, whose carrier bag and mobile phone had been taken, was found by a member of rail staff covered in blood.
He remains in hospital under observation after sustaining serious head injuries.
Investigating officer DS Becca Haywood said: "We are appealing to any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time or who may have seen two young men leaving the station.
