PC Muhammad Patel was due to attend a Misconduct Hearing at the PSD offices, British Transport Police, York Y01 6JT between the 10th and 13th September 2024 to answer allegations relating to breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour as in Honesty & Integrity, and Discreditable Conduct. PC Patel did not attend his Misconduct Hearing.
It is alleged that on three separate occasions between May 2022 and October 2023, whilst off duty, PC Patel was witnessed inhaling Nitrous Oxide from a balloon and/or in possession of Nitrous Oxide, whilst in a car with others.
It is further alleged that in February 2023, PC Patel submitted a written declaration to BTP Professional Standards Department, in relation to the incident in February 2023, which is contrary to the information provided by Lancashire Police.
The Panel found that the allegations amounted to gross misconduct and that they breached the standards of Professional behaviour relating to Honesty & Integrity, and Discreditable Conduct
The officer was dismissed without notice.
