Misconduct Hearing Outcome - PC Ian Whitmill

PC Ian Whitmill attended an Accelerated Misconduct Hearing on Friday 8th November 2024 at 10am at British Transport Police, Ivason House, London Bridge Street, London, SE1 9SG to answer allegations relating to breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour as in Discreditable Conduct and Duties and Responsibilities.

It was alleged that

1. between October 2022 and March 2024 PC Whitmill had taken numerous selfie images, including images of his penis, and recorded video footage of himself masturbating whilst on duty and in uniform, and in the process used police equipment inappropriately
2. between October 2022 and March 2024 PC Whitmill sent sexting messages and selfie images, including images of his penis, and videos of himself masturbating to third parties whilst on duty.
3. between March and May 2023 PC Whitmill posted messages in a Kik Messenger chat group named ‘Swinging [redacted]’ whilst on duty.
4. PC Whitmill was in possession of an extreme pornographic image showing bestiality.

The Chair found that the allegations amounted to gross misconduct and that they breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Discreditable Conduct and Duties and Responsibilities.

The officer was dismissed without notice.
