Diversity at BTP

Police Officer Vacancies

British Transport Police is currently recruiting for Police Officers in London and surrounding areas. We welcome people from all backgrounds to join us as we want to ensure that our Police Officers reflect the diversity of this great city and the railway passengers and workers who we protect every day.

We are recruiting Police Officers

Where can I find out more?

On Saturday 12th January and Wednesday 23rd January we are holding workshops at our Force Headquarters in Camden, Central London. The workshops aim to demystify the recruitment and assessment process, answer your questions and ultimately give you the confidence that policing may be a viable career option for you. You will hear from serving Police Officers and have the opportunity to talk in confidence about any issue that you may be concerned about. Our positive action efforts don’t stop there and, if you are successfully shortlisted after you apply, we will ensure that you are as best prepared as possible for your assessment.

How committed is BTP to diversity?

Rachael Etebar, Director of People and Culture at British Transport Police said “In recent years, we have made great strides in improving the diversity of our Force, for example in our most recent intakes, a third of new Officers were women and 18% were BME. However, our workforce is still less representative than the population we serve. So if you are a woman or from a black or ethnic minority background  and may never have considered policing as a career choice before but want to know more, why don’t you come along to one of our Recruitment Workshops?”

Next Steps

Of course, our opportunities are open to all and should anyone have a query please do contact our recruitment team at recruitmentteam@btp.pnn.police.uk with any questions you may have and we will always do our best to answer them.

“We are proud to go the extra mile to support those who are underrepresented in policing to become Police Officers,” says Rachael “however everyone should be reassured that every application we receive will be assessed on its individual merits and absolutely no other factors, as we believe that the travelling public deserve the very best police force to keep them safe.”
