Female genital mutilation, also known as FGM, is a procedure where
the female genitals are deliberately cut, injured or changed, but
there’s no medical reason for this to be done.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, always call
999.
FGM is illegal in the UK. It is painful and
can seriously harm the health of girls and women.
