Report a theft
If you think your property has been stolen on the railway, it's
important that you report it to us on 0800 40 50
40 or text
61016 as
soon as possible. You can also contact a police officer or a member
of rail staff.
In an emergency, always dial 999.
What happens when I report a theft?
Once you have reported the theft, it will be logged by our
control room. It will then be passed to one of our officers who
will keep you informed of the investigation, in accordance with the
time frames laid out in the
Victim’s Code of Practice.
Are there any precautions I can take?
Keep a note of your mobile phone or tablet IMEI number. This
will help police to track it down if it is stolen.
To find your IMEI number:
- Dial *#06# on the keypad and the IMEI number will be
displayed.
- Remove the battery of the phone — the IMEI number will be
identified on a sticker underneath.
- On an iPhone and iPad, go to Settings > General >
About. Scroll down to IMEI to find the 14 digit number.
If you have an iPhone, install the 'Find My iPhone' app available
via the App Store and log in. This will help to track your
device.
For an Android device, a 'Find My Device' app is available
alongside a Google account.
