Twitter alerts

Our @BTP Twitter account followers can receive crucial information in the event of a major incident on Britain’s railways.

The service has been enabled for emergency services and government organisations’ accounts across the country in times of crisis to ensure critical information is relayed to as many of our followers as possible, and ensure that passengers are given crucial advice.

To enable the alerts function visit BTP's Twitter alerts and follow the on-screen instructions.

When Twitter alerts are enabled, subscribers can receive notifications and SMS text message directly to their mobile. Alert tweets will also be highlighted in Twitter timelines with an orange bell icon.

We will only use the alerts function if a major incident has been declared, or if we need to communicate vital information during a critical incident receiving national public interest.
