stations and on trains between Barry Town and Llantwit Major
to address groups of youths travelling to those locations and
behaving in an anti social and intimidating manner whilst on the
train or at the station. The Neighbourhood Policing Team activity

2. Passenger Reassurance: Cardiff

Increased patrols at Cardiff Central station
continue to be a priority for the Neighbourhood Policing Team,

criminal activity in the vicinity of the station and Central
Sqaure. The policing activity is on all days with particular
attention being given between 10am and 8pm.

- Positively identify and deter individuals who frequent the
railway station and Central Square for the purpose of commiting
criminal acts.

actively encourage early reporting of incidents of anti-social
behaviour, begging, loitering and retail theft.

partnership initiatives and operations to combat offences at
the locations.

level, alcohol related anti social behaviour on trains and at

Team will be travelling on trains serving these locations to
provide reassurance to passengers and staff. At the stations, the

(PACT) Meetings
These meetings are an opportunity for the community to
meet with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team and highlight any
issues that are having an impact on the overall quality
of life in and around the station and trains. You will have the
opportunity to speak on a one-to-one basis with your local
officers, and your feedback about the issues specific to your
stations and communities will help to determine our local
policing priorities.
Anyone who has an interest in the community can attend a PACT
meeting, if you are able to attend or wish to include an item on
the agenda, please contact us.
The next PACT meeting
is: Tuesday 3 July 2012
at 10.30am at British Transport
Police, 3 Callaghan Square,

Community Engagement
Safer 6 Nations
Both Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be
actively involved in the Safer 6 Nations campaign commencing in
March 2012. Working in partnership with Cardiff Capital, the teams
will be raising awareness of alcohol abuse during the rugby events
by handing out beer mats which highlight the dangers of alcohol
abuse and give advice to drink a glass of water between drinks.
Neighbourhood staff will be out working at the Wales v Italy and
Wales v France fixtures during March 2012
Rail Safety Reps Scheme
The Network Rail Safety Reps Scheme, supported
by British Transport Police, continues to gather momentum in the
South and West Wales region with a total of 17 primary schools
successfully signing up to the scheme. PCSOs from Swansea, Cardiff
and Pontypridd continue to work tirelessly to promote the scheme,
with particular emphasis being given to the primary schools that
feed the comprehensive schools that use the railway network to go
to and from that place of education. The objective is to have at
least 20 schools using the scheme before April 2012.
