Current neighbourhood policing
priorities
|
1. Anti-social behaviour
|
Actions
-
We have used information received from the
passenger focus survey to identify the areas affected by
anti-social behaviour.
-
We will continue to deal with anti-social
behaviour offences within the area.
-
We have increased our high visibility patrols on
late night train services identified as problematic.
-
We have doubled our working compliment
in the area to four.
-
We will continue to provide a high visible
patrol of stations, platforms and barriers within our area to offer
reassurance to rail staff and passengers.
Results/Update - May 2012
-
Officers continue
with high visibility on train patrols particularly the last trains
that leave Edinburgh on Friday and Saturday evenings. This is an
ongoing commitment by us.
-
This approach has received positive feedback
from rail staff and passengers.
-
During April we have conducted numerous on train
patrols covering various SPL matches involving Dunfermline
Athletic.
-
In April one male was arrested for assault
of a passenger on a train in the Falkirk area.

|
2. Line of
Route
|
Actions
- We are providing a high visibility presence in order to
detect and deter line of route offences.
- We will detect and prosecute offenders.
- Line of route mobile patrols are carried out on a daily
basis, at the same time providing reassurance to rail staff and
members of the public.
- Regular meetings being held with train operating
companies based in the Fife area.
- On going liaison with local police and other outside
agencies.
Results/Update - May 2012
- In April we have continued to carry out high
visibility and plain clothes on train patrols.
- Officers have attended numerous local schools in the Fife
area providing talks on railway safety to children. In April
we visited Dunfermline High School and Torryburn Primary
School.
- Local days of action have been held at Level Crossings in
the Fife area. Leaflets were handed out with reassurance and advice
given. This was welcomed by pedestrians and
motorists.
- In April a male was cautioned and charged with a Breach
of the Peace and trespass offence at
Kirkcaldy station.
|
|
3. Public Reassurance
|
Actions
- An important part of policing is community reassurance
through interaction with rail staff and passengers. We aim to
maintain our public reassurance priority and drive forward quality
of service by doing the following:
- Direct patrols using intelligence led policing, to be
visible at key times and key locations.
- Keep victims of crimes updated of the progress of
enquiries.
- Hold regular PACT meetings to fully integrate our community in
the future planning processes of problem solving.
Results/Update - May 2012
- BTP websites and other media sources, publicise our work
and engagements within the community.
- Our last PACT meeting was held on 19 April.
- Our edition 2 newsletter is full of interesting
articles from Neighbourhood Policing Teams throughout Scotland and
can be found at the foot of this page.
- Officers have received excellent feedback from the victim
support back forms. One victim of crime stated the service he
received from the officers was 'Exemplary'.

Current issues
The attached link provides a short film
produced by the Violence Reduction Unit entitled “Have You Got The
Bottle?” http://www.actiononviolence.co.uk/content/have-you-got-bottle
It forms a key part of the unit’s strategy
that recognises that violence is a chronic problem in Scotland that
is inextricably linked to alcohol misuse. The Violence Reduction
Unit acknowledges that alcohol has consistently been one of the
most difficult issues to achieve since it needs to challenge the
whole attitude of a nation towards excessive alcohol consumption
and the associated public health risks. The film is thought
provoking and promotes responsible drinking by highlighting the
devastating impact it has on society.
