- Maximising the visibility of unformed police officers and
special constables at key locations in the Glasgow City Centre

Policing Plan
By April 2012 the new policing plan will be published for
2012-2013. In support of this coming, the force has produced an
anti-social behaviour strategy, which will involve local delivery
plans, this will be implemented at Glasgow City Centre NPT.

Police and Communities Together (PACT)
Meetings
As part of the Neighbourhood Police Team, along with usual
policing duties, it is important that we fully engage with
commuters who use the rail network from the suburbs to Glasgow
Central and Queen Street stations on a daily basis.
Police Officers are usually visible on the station concourse
during peak times, but passengers rushing to get to their work or
on their way home are understandably too preoccupied to speak to
the officers about any concerns or matters in general.
Therefore, one of our Police Officers, PC Patrick Fisher, based
in Glasgow Central, will be in attendance at the following venues
listed below to advise/update commuters and residents of any
current issues and to answer any questions raised.
Neilston, Glen Halls - Tuesday 29th May 2012 at 1900 hrs.
Newton Mearns, Alburtsland Hall, - Monday 11th June 2012 at 1900
hrs.
Giffnock, Rhuallan House - Tuesday 12th June 2012 at 1900
hrs.
Busby, Duff Memorial Hall, - Monday 18th June 2012 at 1930
hrs.
Scottish Cup Final
On Saturday 19th May 2012, we look forward to the Scottish Cup
Final where Hearts play Hibs at the national stadium, Hampden
Park.
We expect a large number of fans to use the rail network to
attend the match and we would like to advise fans that alcohol will
not be permitted on the following services:
From Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street/Glasgow Central stations
- 0900 hrs - 1300 hrs
From Glasgow Queen Street/Glasgow Central stations to Edinburgh
- 1700 hrs - 2100 hrs
From Glasgow Central station to Mount Florida/Kings Park - 1200
hrs - 1500 hrs
From Mount Florida/Kings Park to Glasgow Central station - 1700
hrs - 2000 hrs
To assist with the numbers expected, First Scotrail will be
operating additional football special services.
To further assist with the large numbers, at Glasgow Central
station, fans will queue separately and will travel on different
trains to different stations.
Heart fans will queue up the Carriage Drive (accessible via Hope
Street beside Reardons Snooker Club) and the the trains will take
them direct to Mount Florida.
Hibs fans will queue up on the main concourse and the trains
will take them direct to Kings Park.
These stations permit the shortest walk to the stadium
for each teams respective end.
For more information, please see First Scotrail staff or follow
the instructions on the station posters.
Recent events
Scottish Cup-tie Disorder
A total of five men have been arrested following a large scale
disturbance at Glasgow Central railway station last month.
The arrests were made during an operation on Tuesday 3 April
2012, as a result of a British Transport Police investigation into
serious disorder at the station around 7:20 pm on Saturday 10 March
2012 , following the Hibernian v Ayr United Scottish Cup-tie at
Somerset Park, Ayr. Six men aged between 24 and 48 were arrested by
officers at the scene and currently await legal proceedings.
The men arrested on Tuesday 3 April 2012, aged between 22 and
45, all from Edinburgh, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on
Thursday 26 April 2012.
Detective Inspector Grant Cathcart, who led the operation, said
"Football related anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated on
the rail network and we will continue to work closely with all
Scottish forces to take action against anyone who steps out of line
and bring hooligans to justice".
The vast majority of football fans are law abiding and a credit
to the clubs they follow, but a small majority seek to spoil this
good reputation and this is why both the police and wider criminal
justice system make such efforts to bring them to justice.
Revenue Protection Exercise
At the end of March 2012, NPT officers based at Glasgow Queen
Street station assisted our Scotrail partners during a revenue
protection exercise, held during peak rush hour periods at Glasgow
Queen Street station. Fraud and security officers from Scotrail's
dedicated revenue protection team worked with station staff to
combat passengers abusing various ticketing types such as flexi
passes. NPT officers were on hand to provide reassurance and
support to rail staff and take action where appropriate.
Our city centre NPT officers will continue to support revenue
protection operations run by Scotrail and SPT and continually work
closely with our partners and stakeholders.
Joint Working
Pro-active joint working between subway NPT and the SPT
operators on anti-social behaviour on the subway network, this
will include working with the University of Glasgow.
