Current neighbourhood policing
priorities
|
1. Sectarian Related Offences
|
Actions
-
We are continuing to
work with Strathclyde Police and Rangers and Celtic Football Clubs
to identify offenders for Sectarian offences.
-
We continue to conduct
high profile uniform patrols throughout the rail and subway
networks during high profile fixtures and our team are routinely
complimented by additional officers from across BTP.
-
We are proactive in
obtaining Football Banning Orders in relation to any sectarian
related offences. We have established a single point of contact
within the Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service who deals with
BTP Football Banning Order requests.
-
The detection rate for
football related offences on the Glasgow subway is currently 88%
from June 2010 to April 2011.
|
|
2. Anti-social behaviour
|
Actions
|
| 3. Theft |
Actions
-
We routinely barrier
Virgin, East Coast, Transpennine, Cross Country and Scot Rail
services prior to departure and upon their arrival giving
reassurance to passengers and staff.
-
We are liasing with
retailers at Glasgow city centre stations giving advice about crime
prevention, stock lay-out, use of CCTV and reporting procedures, to
prevent and deter any other associated anti-social behaviour.
-
We are also giving
retail staff updates on current and specific intelligence about
shopping trends and have implemented a Service Response Agreement
with retailers in the fight against shoplifting. We will report
back to retailers in July 2011 with what our joint efforts have
achieved.
|
| 4. Fare Evasion & Staff
Assaults |
Actions
- We work in close partnership with First
Scot Rail fraud and security officers and have organised more
targeted ticket exercises over the coming months.
- Intelligence indicated that there has
been an increase in travel fraud offences over recent months and in
response we are taking a zero tolerance approach to offenders, this
has a proven disruptive effect of preventing assaults towards
members of staff occurring.

Recent events
Take That Concert at Hampden
The three Take That concerts which took place between 22nd June
and 24 June saw large crowds affect your Neighbourhood. A great
deal of planning went into the policing of this event and we are
pleased to note that no arrests were made in relation to the
concert, despite numbers of up 55,000 attending on each
evening.
