Current neighbourhood policing priorities

1.  We will work with partner agencies to ensure the forthcoming summer season is free from anti-social behaviour in particular at the Stations of Freshfield and Formby.

Actions

  • Operation Beachsafe is a joint initiative involving a number of partner agencies including Merseyside Fire and Rescue, The National Trust , Merseyside Police and Sefton Borough Council aimed at reducing the anti-social behaviour of a minority of people who vist the beaches at Formby and Freshfield.
  • We are involved in the early stages of planning and will support the initiative throughout the summer season.

2.  We will increase our patrols on late night trains to provide passenger reassurance.

Actions

  • Officers will continue to carry out regular late night patrols on services to and from Liverpool along the Northern Line. The passenger feedback continues to be positive and this action will continue throughout the year.

3. We will work in partnership with Merseyside Police to reduce the number of offenders who use the rail network as a means of transport to commit crimes in our local communities.

Actions

  • Joint patrols have been conducted and a number of potential offenders have been   identified and valuable intelligence has been gained in relation to there activities .
  • January 2012 saw a spike in burglaries in the Kirkby area at a housing estate next to the railway line. The offenders were using the line as a means of escape and in a joint initiative with Merseyside Police and Network Rail a plan was put in place to enhance security in the area.
4. We will work with our partners to ensure passengers who are under the influence of alcohol are provided with words of guidance surrounding safety on the network

Actions

  • Officers have and will continue to work at stations to support our partners and ensure that those who are a danger to themselves or other rail users due to the effects of alcohol are denied travel.
  • Waterloo Station will form the focus of our activity for the month of February 2012 into early March 2012.
