Current neighbourhood policing
priorities

Violence and Aggression against
Staff Manchester City Centre
|
Actions
-
Violence and aggression towards Rail Staff whilst carrying out
their duties continues to be a serious concern with 9 incidents
being reported in February.
-
These incidents have occurred throughout stations in the
Manchester area.
-
We continue to deal positively with all reported incidents and
out of the nine reported, 3 offenders are due to appear in court; 4
offenders have been identified and are currently being processed
and 2 are awaiting identification through CCTV images.
-
The majority of these offences appear to emanate from revenue
related issues. As a result we are continuing to support staff
within this role to prevent them being subjected to violence and
abuse whilst carrying out their duty.

|
Anti Social Behaviour at Victoria
|
Actions
-
Neighbourhood Police officers at Manchester Victoria are
continuing to work with the Car Park company APCOA; tackling the
antisocial issue of a group of offenders re-selling used car park
tickets to Car Park users.
-
The car park situated at Victoria station is a pay and display
car park requiring users to input their registration mark details,
however offenders are selling used tickets and often pressurising
members of the public into handing over their used tickets.
-
10 prosecution cases against 3 suspects are being heard at
Manchester Magistrates court in April, with applications for Anti
social behaviour orders attached to ban them from the
area.
-
British Transport Police urge people not to pass on their
tickets when leaving the car park to help prevent this unacceptable
activity and prevent further harassment of members of the public
going about their normal business.
|
|
Anti Social Behaviour at Bolton
|
Actions
-
As a result of the increased uniformed patrols only 7 crimes
were recorded at Bolton station in February.
-
4 offenders have been dealt with for these offences and
enquiries are continuing to identify the other offenders using CCTV
images.
-
The second of a planned series of surgeries whereby
public/passengers can speak direct to BTP Officers/Pcso’s, was held
on 02nd March. The surgery was well received with the
next being held on 30th April 2012 between 1600-1830hrs
in the booking hall.

|
Ale Trail Stalybridge
to Huddersfield
|
Actions
-
NPT officers are continuing to address the issues of alcohol
related anti social behaviour on the railway line between
Stalybridge and Huddersfield on Saturday evenings.
-
Offenders of such behaviour have been found to be large groups
of males taking part in an Ale Trail.
-
Uniformed officers have continued active patrolling on the line
on a Saturday night, positively dealing with alcohol related and
antisocial incidents.
-
Officers have also been engaging with passengers to encourage an
understanding that the Ale Trail is an enjoyable experience, but
consideration needs to be given to other passengers on the
train.
|
|
Castleton Railway Station
|
Actions
-
BTP will be supporting the Castleton in bloom competition which
will be judged in July 2012 if funding is secured. The event will
benefit the station aesthetics and therefore improve the rail users
experience when visiting the station.
-
We will provide crime prevention advice and patrol strategies
when the displays are put in place to reduce any issues of damage
or antisocial behaviour that affects the event.

|
Knutsford anti social behaviour - The
yellow card scheme
|
Actions
-
Police have been patrolling the morning and evening services’
that transport the Knutsford High School pupils to and from school.
Reports and levels of anti social behaviour have reduced which is
down to a combination of increased patrols and also the yellow card
scheme being facilitated.
-
To date, 18 yellow cards have been issued to pupils and a
further 5 pupils have been reported and are to be dealt with by
other methods of police disposal, for offences including Trespass,
ticketless travel and over travelling.
-
The Yellow card scheme is a restorative justice scheme
implemented by the police, school and the rail company to deal with
low level disorderly behaviour, whilst at the same time using
education and a warning system to prevent more young people falling
foul of the criminal justice system.

|
Irlam—Problem Solving Plan for Vehicle
offences
|
Actions
-
A problem solving plan is a problem-solving template which
allows you to record, assess and monitor progress against a
priority as identified by the community. This has been put in place
at Irlam station in relation to calls regarding reports of vehicles
being vandalised and broken into and for the last few weeks various
strategies and patrols have taken place at this location. As a
result, 2 people have been reported for unacceptable behaviour at
the station.
-
Consultation is taking place with the local council, Greater
Manchester Police and the local community to prevent and detect
further offences and incidents being reported.
|
|
Altrincham—Anti Social behaviour
|
Actions
-
There is currently an on going iniative with Transport for
Greater Manchester at Altrincham. This is a large scale multi
agency approach involving many partners and is aimed at reducing
anti social behaviour at this location whilst also preparing for
the huge regeneration of the rail and metro link station. Joint
patrols are being undertaken which will involve British Transport
Police(BTP), Greater Manchester Police, Northern Rail, Metrolink,
Carlisle security and Trafford Council community safety patrol
officers.
-
Since the 1 January to date there are only 2 crimes recorded by
BTP, 1 of which has seen an offender reported for a fraud
offence.

|
Reddish North- Line of route
offences
|
Actions
-
On the 14 and 15 March officers responded to calls regarding
obstructions being placed on the railway line in the vicinity of
Reddish North station close to Langley Lane south foot crossing. A
small number of school children have been observed by local
residents to place items on the line, which obviously places them
in great danger and also endangers those travelling on services
through this location. Police Units responded to the area, but
unfortunately have yet to apprehend those responsible.
-
Patrols and enquiries are on going, however in the mean time,
Vale view primary and Reddish high school have been contacted and
pupils warned about the dangers and consequences of committing such
offences.
