Current neighbourhood policing
priorities- Updated March 2012
Priorities come from passengers, railway staff
and from PACT (Police and community
together) meetings.
|
1. We will reduce anti social
behaviour at Liverpool Lime street station
|
Actions
-
Police officers and community support officers
have been providing reassurance to staff and passengers.
There is an issue with a large number of homeless
persons causing a disturbance at the location. On the 10th of
March 2012, officers arrested two persons for an assault and both
have bail conditions not to enter the station. Direction to leave
the locality notices were also issued on the 10th of March 2012,
these continue to be used as an enforcement tactic. A multi agency
meeting will take place at the next PACT meeting, this will
include homeless charities and Liverpool city council to
tackle the underlying issues. CCTV evidence is being used to target
offenders who persistently cause issues on the station.
|
|
2. We will tackle anti social
behaviour at Runcorn railway station
|
Actions
-
Police officers are continuing to provide a
high visibility presence at Runcorn station. Community Support
Officers have been conducting onboard train surgeries to liaise
with staff and passengers. This allows for community engagement and
staff reassurance. Late night train patrols to and from the station
have been conducted. Specifically on the 9th of March 2012 involved
the last train service into Liverpool and a number
of youths details were taken. These train patrols will
continue over the month of March. CCTV is being used to identify
and prosecute offenders who commit anti social behaviour offences
at the location. To tackle the issues at the location, multi agency
meetings will take place this month. These will take place with
Cheshire Police, Virgin trains and Halton council.
|
| 3. We will tackle issues of anti
social behaviour and ticketless travel at Huyton railway
station |

The Liverpool NPT team are in possession
of a model train set, this will assist officers when taking part in
community and school events and allows officers to explain the
dangers of the rail network.
This has been made possible by donations
from Virgin Trains and Hattons Model Railway Shop, Liverpool
and we would like to give a special thank you to Albert Summer from
Liverpool model railway society for all his time and effort in
constructing the set.

Community Engagement - Previous
events
1) Officers have been carrying
out on board train surgeries travelling on the Virgin
Services from
Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston. This allows officers to
speak
with all passengers and staff on board the services and
give advice regarding theft of personal
property and
personal safety advice. These onboard train surgeries have now
expanded to
cover other
Train Operating Companies
2) Officers have engaged with a
large number of hard to reach groups. This has included an
Elderly
persons
drop in and a disability drop in forum. Officers already engage on
a regular basis with our
friends at
the Lesbian/Gay drop in centre.
