Current Neighbourhood Policing Priorities

1. Anti-Social Behaviour at Leeds

Actions

  • Officers are conducting regular high visibility patrols at Leeds City Railway Station and in the surrounding vicinity. These patrols hope to reassure members of the public and also decrease the likelihood of Anti-Social Behaviour occurring.

  • Officers are also participating in designated weekend foot patrols between 7pm and 1am. These patrols are part of an ongoing operation to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour issues at Leeds station and in the surrounding bars and clubs.

  • Officers will also be conducting joint patrols with Network Rail Security members and with other community safety partners.

  • Officers will be gathering intelligence and information around Anti-Social Behaviour from members of the public as well as from our railway partners and members of staff in our community.

  • We aim to minimise the possibility of members of our community being victims of and witness to Anti-Social Behaviour.

Latest Update May 2012

Officers are responding to reports of begging at Leeds City Station. They will be conducting plain clothes patrols in and around the station during early evenings.

2. Metal Theft in the West Yorkshire area

3. Fare Evasion and Anti-Social Behaviour in Bradford

Actions

  • Officers are conducting checks on scrap metal dealers in order to identify any illegal scrap metal.

  • Officers are visiting local communities in problematic areas. They are delivering leaflets which ask for public assistance in relation to metal theft in reporting suspicious behaviour in their local areas.

  • We are continuing to maximise on our community links to gather intelligence in relation to metal theft.

  • We are working with our colleagues in West Yorkshire Police and our partners from the Environment Agency and local councils in  joint operations.

Actions

  • We are working with Northern Rail to combat the issue of young people travelling without tickets in the Bradford area.

  • As well as assisting with Railway Revenue Operations we are also visiting local schools and parents in the area to encourage young people to purchase reduced rate passes which are available to them.

  • We are also increasing patrols in the area to deter the linked issues of Anti Social Behaviour directed towards staff members at the location.

Latest Update May 2012

Officers are conducting high profile patrols to Todmorden Railway Station as a result of reported Anti-Social Behaviour on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Upcoming Events

A planning meeting is being held on the 2 May to discuss future events and prjects. This section will be updated after this date once plans have been finalised.

Previous Events

25 April- Passenger surgery at Leeds Railway Station between 4pm and 6pm

NPT officers held a passenger surgery on the main concourse at Leeds Railway Station. The officers were on hand to distribute Crime Prevention Advice to pssengers and members of the public and to chat about any issues affecting their journey whilst travelling onboard train services or at train stations.

24 April- Cycle Surgery at Leeds Railway Station between 7.30am and 10am

During the above hours, officers from the NPT held a 'cycle surgery' near the bike racks on Platform One at Leeds Railway Station. Officers were on hand to offer crime prevention advice and mark bicycles with the owners' postcode to prevent theft by acting as a deterrent to any would-be thieves.

16 April- 20 April 2012- Safeguarding Staff

Officers were involved in a Safeguarding Staff week at Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield Railway Stations. Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team at Leeds met with different staff members across a wide range of different Train Operating Companies. This was an opportunity for officers to listen to staff concerns and to remedy any issues affecting them whilst at work.

16 February 2012- 31 March 2012: Anti Social Behaviour Operation at Leeds

During the above dates, NPT officers carried out out extra patrols between 7pm and 1am. These patrols included the night-time economy in and around Leeds Railway Station. In addition to the station, officers patrolled the bars and night-clubs in the vicinity. As well as providing additional reassurance to members of the public, officers helped to ensure that the chances of members of the public becoming a victim of or a witness to Anti-Social Behaviour remained low.

Community Meetings

WE APOLOGISE FOR THE TECHNICAL PROBLEMS WE ARE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING RESULTING IN US BEING UNABLE TO UPLOAD THE LATEST MEETING MINUTES

Every 8 weeks your local Neighbourhood Policing Team arranges a Community meeting and invites our Community Partners ie. Train Operating Companies, Network Rail, local Businesses and members of the local Community. We call these PACT meetings. They are an opportunity for you to come and meet your local Policing Team to discuss the issues or problems at your local railway station or commuter line that effect you. We then try with our Community Partners to find a long term workable solution to the problem. Please come along - you will be very welcome to join in - and contribute to helping your community.
