Current neighbourhood policing priorities

1.Reduce instances of disruption to service due to Fly Tipping in the Woodstock Avenue area

You Said:

There has been a significant rise in disruption related offences in particular fly tipping on the Northern Line.  Six offences have been recorded at Woodstock Avenue area, located adjacent to the line between Golders Green Lu and Brent Cross LU Station.

We/our partners have:

In the Month of November

  • High visibility patrols from BTP officers in

or around the vicinity of Woodstock Ave

  • Crime prevention community engagement at Golders Green tube station

2. Reduce Theft from Person Offences pn the stations covered by the Northern Line North team

You Said:

Theft offences equated to 29% of reported crime on the Northern Line North NPT area. The top three stations where theft offences are reported are Tottenham Court Road, Camden Town and Goodge Street. These three stations represent three of the busier stations for passenger numbers within the Northern Line North NPT area and are likely to attract the attention of offenders who target crowded locations to commit this type of offence.

We/our partners have:

In the month of November

  • Conducted High Visibility patrols on the Northern Line North NPT area with particular attention being given to Tottenham Court Road, Camden Town and Goodge Street.
  • Liaising with the Lost Property Office of London Underground Limitied to ensure lost property is returned to its owner and that these items do not get recorded as thefts.

3. Reduction in the number of VAP (Violence Against Person) offences occurring on the Northern Line North Area

You Said

This plan has been commissioned to address the rise in the number of VAP offences.

This has been highlighted at both PACT meetings and COMSTAT by General Station Managers in charge of the stations covered in this plan. These concerns are supported by the fact that on the Northern Line North area there has been an increase from 3 offences to 10 in the said periods of comparison. These being the 17/07/2011 to 17/10/2011 compared with the 17/10/2011 to 17/01/2012.

We/Our partners Will

Starting as of 23rd January 2012

  1. High visibility Patrols will conducted to reassure staff and the public and to deal with any offenders.
  2. Plain clothes patrols will be carried out to catch offenders when they think there is no Police presence.
  3. NPT will ensure staff at hotspot stations are supported during the times that intelligence has suggested that a majority of these offences are occurring
  4. The NPT team will engage with the public wherever possible to reduce any tensions before they escalate.
  5. To work closely with the Sexual offences department in order to identify and target offenders as half of the offences committed are sexual offences.
  6. Liaising with local Met/Pol to proactively identify suspects committing like offences on their jurisdiction that could lead to suspects being identified for offences on BTP jurisdiction.
