Current neighbourhood policing priorities

1. Reduce combined incidents of graffiti by at the following hot spot locations Watford, Uxbridge, Amersham, Rickmansworth Stations and Neasden Depot

You Said:

In the past two months there has been an evident increase in graffiti offences across the North West section of the Metropolitan line. This has in part been caused by the introduction of new rolling stock which is seen an attractive target for graffiti artists. The replacement of stock has also taken place through the winter months when there is an extended period of darkness.

We/Our partners have:

In the month of January 2012

  • Track specific measures
  • Control access by removing insecurities
  • Patrol/Surveillance put in place
  • Rapid response to incidents

Work carried out up until Mid April 2012

  • Various officers changed duties to coincide with when known criminals were targeting hot spot graffiti locations between January 2012 and mid April 2012.
  • Patrols included fence line checks as well as paying attention to trains stabled in vulnerable locations. Specifically the locations mentioned above.
  • 3 males were arrested one morning when they were spotted by officers trying to enter Northwood London Underground sidings, going equipped with graffiti equipment, namely spray cans. One of the males had made good his escape but was promptly arrested the following morning on being identified.

Next steps identified from the PACT meeting held on the 29th March 2012:

  • Fare evasion offences at HARROW-ON-THE-HILL and UXBRIDGE LONDON UNDERGROUND Stations.
  • Cycle thefts
  • Civil enforcement officers based in HILLINGDON and jurisdiction issues.
