Current neighbourhood policing
priorities
| 1. Reduce instances of Theft
Person between Plaistow and East Ham |
Result:
As of January 2012
This policing plan is now complete
with a reduction of 25% in theft from person offences compared to
the previous 3 months. Over the months of November, December and
January, officers have been conducting a number of intelligence led
high visibility patrols, theft prevention initiatives both on the
line and at the stations, and liaising closely with London
Underground staff to identify any suspicious behaviour or persons
of interest.
Another theft related policing
plan will be commencing soon when the relevant intelligence
has been obtained.
|
| 2. Increase visibility at
Dagenham Heathway Tube Station to support staff |
Result
As of January 2012
This policing is now complete with officers performing 140
extra hours of patrol and operational hours at the station from 1
November to the 31 January. In addition to this, the NPT also led
20 operations and initiatives, many in conjunction with the London
Underground Revenue teams and the local Metropolitan Police Safer
Neighbourhood Teams. Knife arches and drugs dogs were also employed
during this time to detect and deter the carrying of weapons
and drugs through the station. Again, this was done in conjunction
with our colleagues form the MPS. A number of arrests have been
made for a variety of offences including public order, assault,
possession of drugs and theft.

Community Engagement
In February officers will be visiting 2 local
primary schools to give a presentation on railway safety. This will
also be done in conjunction with an LU train driver who is trained
as a schools liaison officer. Further dates to be arranged in
March.
A PCSO on the team has started the new year of
the HITZ rugby union programme wherein pupils of schools in the
West Ham train attend training sessions with the support Saracens
Rugby club. The aim of this programme is to promote team work and
communication in the youngsters whilst giving them a new sport to
develop in. The programme is supported by the BTP and MPS.
FORTHCOMING EQUALIZER
INITIATIVES:
Operation Equalizer relates to persistent fare
evasion on the London Underground and targets key individuals at
intelligence led locations. There will be 9 joint operations
