Current neighbourhood policing
priorities
| 1. Reduce Notifiable
Offences at Bethnal Green, Mile End, Leyton and Leytonstone
tube stations |
You Said
In the previous 6 months there have been 125
notifiable offences showing that there has been no decrease over
consecutive 3 month periods. These stations account for the
majority of notifiable crime on the Central Line East group, with
the 4 stations being in the top 5 of the 22 stations that is
covered by the Neighbourhood team.
We/Our partners will:
Starting in January
- High visibility patrols will be undertaken at
key times including peak hours and close of traffic patrols.
- Education of staff in reporting crime will
also be addressed through regular liaison and staff workshops.
- Posters outlining consequences of anti-social
behaviour to be displayed at stations.
- Policing activity will be focused on days and
times when offences are more prevalent
|
| 2. Reduce Pedal Cycle Crime
across the Central Line East |
You Said
Analysis has been carried out with respect to
pedal cycle thefts across the Central Line East NPT for the
previous 6 months shows that there have been 33 crimes recorded
that relate to theft of pedal cycle, theft from pedal cycle or
criminal damage of cycle in this period.
We/Our partners will:
Starting in January
- Review CCTV that covers the bike sheds and racks of all
stations to ensure that it is fit for purpose and assist in any
ongoing enquiries.
- Review the lighting of the bike sheds and racks to ensure that
it is suitable to assist in crime prevention and any enquiries that
are on going.
- Contact the London Underground to request a poster
campaign advising commuters of the potential consequences of
leaving their pedal cycles at stations for a prolonged time
period.
- Consider the re sighting of bike sheds & racks.
- Encourage London Underground staff to patrol bike sheds
and racks.
- Strengthen relationships with Metropolitan police and Essex
police Safer Neighbourhood teams in communication with regard to
persistent local pedal cycle thieves.
- Positive arrest policy for any individuals caught going
equipped or stealing pedal cycles.
