Current neighbourhood policing
priorities
|
1. Anti-Social Behaviour at Leatherhead
& Epsom stations.
|
Epsom and
Leatherhead sit outside zone six on the rail system; this causes
problems for a lot of travellers who arrive at these stations
looking for a place to tap out; when they can not do this they face
extra cost for the part of the journey not covered by the Oyster
card. Passengers are also warned that they may be liable for a
penalty fare as they have travelled without a valid ticket.
Passengers are to be aware
that use of the Oyster card is the responsibility of the card user.
If you are travelling to an unfamiliar destination please check the
validity of your Oyster card.
Actions
- We will be conducting high visibility
patrols to prevent offences and provide reassurance to staff and
passengers.
- We will be conducting plain clothes
patrols to detect offenders.
- We will liaise with local youth
groups, hostels and colleges to find a multi-layed
solution.
- More Police presence in the late
evenings to remove the anti social element from the station.
Results
-
Operation Kipling held on 16th
March working in partnership with Southern railway, 3 persons
arrested for fare evasion and 7 persons dealt with for anti social
behaviour, further operations are planned for April.

|
2. Level Crossing Abuse at West
Barnes Lane and Ashtead crossing.
|
This priority was
identified by our partners at Network Rail, having identified it as
one of 6 hot spot level crossings being abused.
Actions
Results
- Over the last year up to 15th March a total of 121
offences of level crossing abuse were committed with 106 of these
offences detected giving a detection rate of 87%
|
|
3. Cycle Theft at Hampton Court
& Esher Train Stations
|
This priority was
identified by the team and agreed at our
PACT
meeting July 2011,
following the success at Surbiton Train station with this offence.
The offenders have appeared to move on to Hampton Court and
Esher.
This priority has grown in to a larger problem
than at first envisaged
This problem is not limited to the stations
listed in the initial priority the teams area of responsibility
have suffered as a whole the team intend to increase hi visibility
and plain clothes patrols at hot spot locations, alongside working
with our partners to improve the CCTV and general security of the
cycle storages.
Actions
-
Cycle surgeries were suspended for the winter
due to the dark evenings now the clocks have gone forward our first
surgery will be held at
Raynes Park between 16:00 & 19:00 on
Tuesday 24th March please come along and get your cycle
registered as this will assist us in future enquires if your cycle
is stolen
-
Surveys off all the NPT stations has now been
completed, looking at CCTV sightings and the extent of old and
damaged cycles being left at the locations, notices have been
placed on to the cycles and these are in the process of being
removed. Any cycles found unsecured are being removed and stored by
the train operating company
- We will conduct both high visibility
and plain clothes patrols to deter offences and apprehend
the most determined offenders.
-
We will conduct passenger surgeries at
the station and provide crime prevention advice.
