Current neighbourhood policing
priorities
|
1. Anti-social behaviour
|
Anti-social
behaviour is a concern for the London Bridge community. This was
brought to our attention from feed back from passenger surgeries
and
PACT
meeting.
Actions
- The London Bridge neighbourhood team are fully committed to
deal with acts of disorder, drunkenness and intimidation.
- The team will be conducting high visibility patrols and
targeted patrols in this time period.
- There will be robust response in relation to any anti-social
behaviour being committed at London Bridge station.
- This will reduce the fear of crime and provide a safe
environment for passengers.
- A problem solving profile has been created to focus and record
our actions to combat anti-social behaviour on our
neighbourhood.
- Staff have raised concerns about anti-social behaviour
occurring on Sunday mornings. It has been identified that the
concerns are regarding people leaving bars and night clubs in
the area after nights out. Some of the team have changed their
shifts to adapt to this and enable us to combat
any anti-social behaviour.
Results
- The team have had some significant results in
combating late night anti-social behaviour.
- The team has seen a decrease in anti-social behaviour offences
being committed at London Bridge.
- Officers have taken positive action against offenders which has
resulted in arrest and prosecution.
- In February 2012, there have been 9 incidents reported of
Anti-social Behaviour at London Bridge. This is a reduction
on the previous month.

are top priority for the London Bridge team, the safety of staff is
taken very seriously. Working in partnership with the rail

who use intimidation and violence.

platforms, liaising with rail staff at flash point areas.
- Some of the team have also spent time with station staff
discussing conflict resolution skills.
- The team take zero tolerance approach to allegations of
physical assault or verbal abuse towards staff.
- Offenders are dealt with in a prompt and effective manner, with
the aim of bringing them to justice as quickly as possible.
- This approach allows staff to be able to do their job without
fear of assault.

Local Developments
The team have been heavily involved in meetings with the Shard,
the station and local communities to discuss the impact the current
construction work and development will have on the
area. Topics discussed included the progress of the
developments, how it will impact on the community, police
response to this and emergency/contingency plans.
Samaratians
All officers at London Bridge attended a suicide awareness
course recently run by the Samaritans. This has helped
officers understand more about the issues surrounding suicide and
how to engage and help suicidal people they may encounter on the
station.
Southwark Young Pilgrims
PCSO Gary Poulson is the liaison officer for the Southwark Young
Pilgrims. The team liaises with this project on any youth
