Neighbourhood Policing plays a crucial role in
how we police the London North Area. It is about visible and
accountable resources solving local crime problems through
collaborative partnerships. It is not about a 'soft option'; we
want our staff to tackle the root cause of problems that affect our
communities profoundly, such as anti-social behaviour, theft,
graffiti and verbal abuse. Arresting criminals is obviously still a
priority but Neighbourhood Policing allows us to work beyond
this in a far more focused manner to achieve sustainable
results.
It is vital that we maintain the confidence of those we
serve and a professional and truly representative workforce is key
to this. We are extremely proud of the progress we have made
regarding the role of our police community support officers and the
tangible differences they are making to the communities they
police. They are supported by extremely dedicated constables and
sergeants, who take personal pride in the policing of their
neighbourhoods.
All Neighbourhood Policing Teams conduct both PACT (Police And
Community Together) meetings and passenger surgeries. Engagement
with the public and partners is absolutely crucial to our success;
our policing activity is planned as a direct result of the
communications that we receive through these processes. We're also
conducting passenger surveys to understand more fully, the concerns
of the travelling public to allow us to respond accordingly.
We currently have nine London North neighbourhood policing
sites. Each site is covered by a team of dedicated police officers.
