Policing priorities

Every year, we work to a policing plan which sets out our objectives for the year ahead.

Together with our neighbourhood policing priorities, which are decided upon with passengers and the wider community, these objectives help to focus our activity ensuring a safer network and safer journeys for everyone.

Visit our Crime Maps and Statistics site

If you’re looking for more information about crime in your area, visit our Crime Maps and Statistics site. You can search by address, postcode or place name, and find out about more about the different crimes that have occurred at stations or on trains in your area.

Crime Maps and Stats ›

Please note: Crime statistics need to be viewed in context. For instance, busy stations will inevitably generate more reported crime than those that are less busy. Long term trends are usually a better indication of the true picture.

Dramatic fluctuations, whether up or down, can be misleading, and if misused statistics can contribute to the fear of crime. Hundreds of millions of passenger journeys are made safely each year and the statistics should be viewed in that context.

Crime statistics are not always accurate indicators of risk. Police activity to target particular offences, changes in reporting patterns and other factors can affect reported crime figures. British Transport Police accepts no responsibility for any use made of this site or its data outside the intended purpose stated above.
