All of Britain’s station operators welcome rail enthusiasts
to their stations. We want you to have a safe and enjoyable
experience every time you visit.
Before you enter the platform
Please speak to a member of station staff when you arrive so
they are aware of your presence and what you are doing.
Please be aware of your surroundings. We kindly ask you to take
note of any unusual behaviour and activities and report anything
suspicious to us or a member of staff.
Please remember the following:
- Stay clear of the platform edge and behind the yellow lines
where they are provided.
- Be careful not to
trespass onto any area of the railway that is not available to
passengers as you will be risking your own life and the safety of
- Don't climb on or obstruct any structure or interfere with
platform equipment or signs.
- Avoid wearing anything similar in colour to safety
clothing, such as a high-visibility jacket as this could be
confusing for train drivers or other employees.
- Please avoid congregating at busy areas (eg customer
information points, departure screens, waiting areas, seating) or
where you may interfere with the duties of station staff.
You can take photographs at stations for personal use.
For any commercial photography, you must seek prior permission
from the appropriate train operator or Network Rail.
If you use a tripod, please ensure it doesn't obstruction
other passengers, keep it away from platform edges and behind
the yellow line.
You're not allowed to use flash photography on platforms as it
is a potential safety hazard. We also ask that you do not
take photographs of security related equipment such as CCTV
On the station platforms
You may sometimes be asked to move to another part of the
station or to leave the station altogether for safety reasons.
Station staff should be happy to explain the reason for this. If
you are travelling by train they may ask you to stay in the normal
waiting areas with other passengers. Please follow their
