Network Incident Response Team
The Network Incident Response Team is a unique partnership
between British Transport Police and London underground that brings
together a group of people with a particular skill set, designed to
reduce disruption on the tube network.
Senior London Underground operational managers work hand-in-hand
with experienced specialist BTP medic officers in a rapid response,
multi-faceted team. The team was formed in May 2013 bringing
together for the very first time in the railway
industry, a bespoke team of BTP officers trained with advanced
medic capabilities, working with London Underground’s most senior
operational manager grade.
Whilst the teams’ default area of operation is within Zone 1 due
to the impact of any service affecting incident in this key area of
operations, they can be deployed to anywhere else on the network to
an incident, medical or operational that has the capacity to cause
significant disruption to our train services.
The vehicle carries a selection of specialist medical diagnostic
and treatment equipment including most of the equipment that you
would expect to find on an ambulance. They also carry specialist
patient packaging and extraction equipment, funded by TFL based on
our recommendations to ensure fast safe patient removal from the
