Network Incident Response Team

The Network Incident Response Team is a unique partnership between British Transport Police and London underground that brings together a group of people with a particular skill set, designed to reduce disruption on the tube network.

Network Incident Response Team

Senior London Underground operational managers work hand-in-hand with experienced specialist BTP medic officers in a rapid response, multi-faceted team. The team was formed in May 2013 bringing together for the very first time in the Network Incident Response Teamrailway industry, a bespoke team of BTP officers trained with advanced medic capabilities, working with London Underground’s most senior operational manager grade.

Whilst the teams’ default area of operation is within Zone 1 due to the impact of any service affecting incident in this key area of operations, they can be deployed to anywhere else on the network to an incident, medical or operational that has the capacity to cause significant disruption to our train services.

The vehicle carries a selection of specialist medical diagnostic and treatment equipment including most of the equipment that you would expect to find on an ambulance. They also carry specialist patient packaging and extraction equipment, funded by TFL based on our recommendations to ensure fast safe patient removal from the underground system.
