Introduction

We are committed to adhering to the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act.

Freedom of information

The Freedom of Information Act came into effect on 1 January 2005. The Act gives a right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities, but also sets out exemptions from that right.

Information about exemptions can be found in the College of Policing's website.

Everyone already has, and will continue to have, the right to ask for information about themselves under the Data Protection Act 1998.
