Meet Sophie Swales. TransPennine Express (TPE)
Travel Advisor by day, crime fighter by night.
Sophie is one of two newly qualified Special
Constables supported by TransPennine Express.
She has been with TPE for 2 and a half years,
and is based at Hull Station.
“I’ve always wanted to be part of the police
force. Before applying for my current role at TPE as a Travel
Advisor in the Booking Office at Hull, I had just started the
recruitment process for Police Community Support Officer – I got
through, but only after starting, and enjoying, my job at
Hull.
Being sponsored to train and to volunteer by TPE is
really the best situation I could have asked for.
“When I was younger I watched every police programme I could find
on TV, so my first shift felt awesome. We arrested someone and took
him to custody – so I already feel like I’ve learnt a lot. Being
sponsored to train and to volunteer by TPE is really the best
situation I could have asked for.
“I’ve been brought up to see right and wrong,
and want to fix things when I can. I have a strong moral compass,
and I think this will come in handy as I get to grips with this new
role.”
We have over 300 Special Constables across the
force from all walks of life. If you’d like to find out more on how
you could join us to make a difference.
